Boiler Shortages on the Horizon?

Back in August, H&V News Magazine (the leading resource for the latest news and insights in the heating, ventilating and air conditioning industry) warned of the approach of a perfect storm of supply chain issues. They reported that a combination of, “Logistics issues, an increased burden resulting from Brexit, the ongoing pandemic and industry skills shortages”, were threatening a significant impact on the industry likely to last for the rest of the year at a minimum (https://www.hvnplus.co.uk/uncategorised/heating-sector-faces-perfect-storm-of-supply-chain-issues-26-08-2021/).

Now it seems that Worcester Bosch, one of the UK’s largest and most reputable boiler brands are also experiencing the same issues, with a recent email from their Sales and Marketing Director Steve Lister warning of “inconsistencies in our normally robust supply chain” that are already “starting to affect our supply of the Greenstar 4000 boiler”.

Blaming the “ongoing instability in the global electronic component market” for the ongoing shortages of vital parts, Mr Lister pledges that Bosch are concentrating  their efforts on searching for ways to improve the situation, but admits that repercussions on product supply will be impacted for “the near future”.

With no end in sight to these problems and demand continuing to increase while supplies decrease, it may be a case of buy now or face a chilly winter!
