Any parts used in the repair are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty; this can vary and details will be provided both alongside any quotes issues, and with work completion paperwork.
If we find that repairing your boiler would either not be possible or would not be economically viable, we will provide you with a fixed price no obligation quote for a replacement boiler.
If we find that replacing the boiler would be a better option than repairing it during a home visit, and you choose Smart Plumbing to install your new boiler, any call-out charge will be refunded from your bill.
When one of our Gas Safe registered heating engineers speaks to you to diagnose your boiler issue, we will help you to determine whether a repair would be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty.
We usually determine that the issue is covered by your warranty without a home visit, and at no charge.
Most major boiler manufacturers offer parts and labour warranties ranging from around 5 years up to 14 years. Registering your boiler on installation activates the warranty, and complying with manufacturer’s instructions such as having your boiler serviced regularly keeps the warranty valid.
If your boiler is installed by Smart Plumbing, we register it for you, send you a copy of the paperwork for your records, and remind you each year when your annual boiler service is due.
Working out whether a repair or replacement would be better can feel complicated, however our Gas Safe registered heating engineers are here to advise you of the best course of action. We are happy to answer all your questions and provide options to help you make the best choice for you.
If your boiler is more than 10 years old, has an energy inefficient G-rating, has multiple or complex issues and does not have a manufacturer’s warranty, it may be more cost effective in the long term to invest in a replacement boiler.
However, if your boiler is under warranty or the fault can be easily diagnosed and fixed relatively easily, then a repair may be a good choice.
